Maria Zakharova, Director, Information and Press Department of the MFA of Russia, presented illustrated Recipes of Hospitality book during a media briefing at the 25th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The book’s creation was initiated and supported by the Main Administration for Service to the Diplomatic Corps (GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia), together with the Gastronomy Map of Russia project.
The bilingual book (in Russian and English) presents traditions and cuisine of the numerous Russian peoples from the Arctic to the Far East. It expounds on the careers of famous Russian chefs that have won acclaim both in Russia and abroad. Recipes of Hospitality is a unique publication: for the first time, it combines under a single cover memoirs of great Soviet and Russian chefs who took part directly in some momentous historical high-level events. There we have stories of the Russian hospitality and the Russian peoples’ cuisines. It’s going to dismantle some old stereotypes and maybe start some new ones. Gastronomy Map of Russia is not just an online project. It’s actively touring around the Russian regions, giving chances to introduce foreigners to local cuisine,” said the official MFA of Russia spokeswoman.
